Stretching Shapes, Coiling Clay and Lots of Fun with Water Trays!

8th Oct 2023

This week in P3/P4, pupils used their growing knowledge about the properties of 2D shapes, such as vertices and sides, to create their own shapes using geoboards and elastic bands. Pupils in P3/P4 also developed a range of new skills when creating their clay characters for their stop motion animation project. The children can now manipulate clay in a plethora of ways after learning about different clay methods, such as coiling, pinching, and slipping and scoring. Finally, as part of the pupils’ Ancient Egypt topic, we explored why boats were so important in Ancient Egypt and discovered the science behind how boats actually stay afloat on the water. We had great fun hypothesising and testing the buoyancy of objects in our classroom. Pupils now have an understanding of density, buoyancy and how the particles are structured in objects that float/sink. Such amazing work, P3/P4!
