Home Learning
Good Morning,
Please find below different activities for children to complete at home. I fully understand that not every parent is in a position to be able to do this, so if your child has to play with their toys whilst you work from home, this is still valuable learning.
Literacy: Procedural writing: ordering a task.
Practical element: Get children to support you complete a task at home such as loading the washing machine / dish washer and switching it on, helping to make a cup of tea, slice of toast or a sandwich. Once the task is complete ask children to orally recall the steps to completing the task.
Written element: Children will dictate to the parent one step in the task that they have just complete. For example: Place bread in the toaster, Get a teabag from the jar. Parent is to write this sentence in a light coloured marker. Ask the child to trace and then copy the sentence. Children can then draw a picture to match the sentence.
Keywords: Continue to practice quick recall of all keywords issued to date. Select 5 of the keywords and get children to copy these words onto a page.
Practical Numeracy: Recall of numbers 1-10 and recall of number words 1-6. Please see both number grids attached. Make out grids like the ones attached.
Number grid 1-10.
No. 1 Call out a number within this number range and get your child to correctly locate it. Repeat.
No. 2 Leave a number of items between 1-10 for your child to count. Can they correctly find the number of items that they have just counted within the number grid. Repeat.
No.3 Rote count from 1-10 purposely leaving out a number. Can your child find the number on the grid that you have left out.
Number words 1-6
No. 1 Call out a number between 1-6, can your child correctly find the number word using their sounds.
No. 2 Count a number of items between 1-6. Can they correctly find the number word to match the number of items that they have counted.
Online activities
Please continue to make full use of Reading Eggs and Mathseeds.
Please also find attached the link to two online numeracy games which children are familiar with which will help to reinforce numbers and shapes.
